On the Occasion of our Sisterhood's 4th Birthday

Blessings, Dear Ones,

Today is the 4th Birthday of our Sisterhood and I have been spending a lot of time reflecting on what our community stands for.  My initial musings say that we are a stand for women’s empowerment, self-worth, self-love, abundance, joy, commitment, authenticity, truth-speaking, conflict-resolving, peace, and clear, non-violent communication.

Over the year that just ended, called our Year of Flourishing Foundations, we created our Community Code of Ethical Conduct for both Circle-Sisters and our Leaders; clearly defined our Priestess Council and its role, requirements, and Agreements; and, at our annual Imbolc Rite of Dedication and Devotion, Initiated our first two Witches into the lineage of our community and tradition.  We are preparing to Initiate our first Priestess into the lineage in a few months.

Our Sisterhood, whose Tarot Guide/Soul card is the Chariot, now moves from this Year of Flourishing Foundations and into the Year of Dedication and Devotion.   Using the Tarot, we see that this is a year our community is guided by both Justice and the High Priestess cards.  The Justice card deals with fairness, truth, accountability, responsibility, connection, balance, and harmony.  Barbara Moore defines the High Priestess as, “Something that can only be understood through experience.”  To me, this card represents intuition and the deeper Mysteries as well as introspection, vision, wisdom, and “knowingness.”

On a personal practice level, I have been called to set aside this year to spend in Dedication to the Element of Fire and the archetype of the Queen of Wands, and my Tarot Guide for this year is Strength.  I can already feel the Fire calling me to examine further and more intently my will, my ambition, my goals, my passion, and my bravery.

I see matching energies between my Fire Dedication and the community energies of the Chariot, with the supportive energies of personal Strength:  courage, compassion, patience, responsibility.  To truly dig into community, to truly dig into our own individual and collective spirituality, requires the personal experience called for by the High Priestess card.  She tells us that we can read all the books in the world but not truly, instinctively “get it” without practice and repetition—that those visceral, in-the-body, on-the-emotional-level, almost otherworldly, experiential encounters with the energies of our magickal and spiritual practice are absolutely imperative to knowing and feeling the true essence.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines dedication and devotion as follows:

Dedication: a feeling of very strong support for or loyalty to someone or something: the quality or state of being dedicated to a person, group, cause, etc.

Devotion:  the use of time, money, energy, etc., for a particular purpose; a feeling of strong love or loyalty: the quality of being devoted

So we move into this Year of Dedication and Devotion extending a heartfelt invitation to women to join with us for this next year and a day. You are invited to ride the Chariot deeper into our community, holding the intention and desire to experience that profound connection to Self, others, and the world, delving deeper into the Mysteries and that sacred power-within, while you are held—and hold others—inside a supportive container filled with harmony, truth, awareness, and self-care.

We invite all women of integrity and calling to make this the year that you choose to dedicate and devote to your sweet Self, viewed and experienced through the lens of a group spiritual practice within the Sisterhood of the Moon.  We currently meet for one ritual a month—can you carve out this space, one evening a month, for yourself, your Sisters, the world?

We hope you choose to accept this sincere invitation to connect, and we stand ready to open the doors and welcome you.  There is always room for more Sisters on our Sacred Chariot!

Blessed be,
Lady Jesamyn Angelica
